Default Parking Brake F-ed up?

Okay so ive noticed a lot of brake dust on my rear passenger side wheel, more than the other three. So i cleaned them all. Later that week, theres more brake dust on the same rear passeneger wheel. I also noticed that when i disengage my parking brake, it makes a squeek/grinding noise. I dunno if its the cable or the brake unlocking. It sounds a lot different than ur average bad cable because it still contiunes to squeek. And the other day when i was parked on a hill it made that same squeeking/grinding noise. I have no idea whats up. Anyone have any ideas?

well, how many clicks does it make when u engage that handle??? it should be 7 . otherise take a look at the cable connecting to the rear caliper on each side, then go from there.

Yeah i just checked it, it takes 7 to get it up there but i can go more. I also checked the brake dust, theres a lot on the same wheel again. Do you think this could be because of pads or what? But then again, i almost feel like the pad might be wearing more than normal on that side and it might need to be replaced soon. I want to try to fix this problem before more problems occur. My friend said on his eagle talon, his parking brake was messed up on one side and messed up his caliper. He needed a new one.

Take off the wheel & look at the caliper. There's a little lever with a spring wound around it, the handbrake cable is attached to that lever.

Pull up the brake handle, let it back down. That lever on the caliper should spring back to where it's almost touching it's stop pin. If not, you gotta figure out what's sticking.

Cable sticking inside it's housing? Replace the cable.
Spring got weak from heat, age, & corrosion? I dunno if you can get the spring by itself?
Lever pivot shaft corroded? That happened to me, I got rebuilt calipers.

Alright heres something ive noticed, i go to work, pull my parking brake. I get back to my car to go home and the handle is almost down. I think its slowing loosing tension over a long period of time. Any hints on what could be wrong?

I gave you 3 hints, you have to check them out. When mine stuck the handbrake lever felt like there's no spring pulling the lever down for the last inch or so. But any of those 3 things would feel the same at the lever.
