How much work is it and is it worth it to take out my A/C?
Whats your guys take on removing my A/C?
First of all I never (once or twice in the summer) use it. The benefits are:
Weight savings? 50lbs or so? it'll help compensate for the near 100 I'm adding w/ the turbo.
Increased cooling....no compressor blocking my radiator. (main reason)
Increased power? Although I'm pretty sure that its extremely minimal.
how long does it take? Also, isn't there some shroud I need to buy to keep my vents working? so....is it worth it?

all you need to buy is the "tunnel" from a non A/c equipped Integra, it goes under the dash between the heater and blower, you will be removing your evaporator. Then you need a big oval grommet plug to cover the hole in the firewalll right behind the battery. If you do not plan on reselling any of the AC stuff, it will only take a couple hours to remove - cutting all lines make em come out faster.
Just go to a shop that can drain your system before you begin. you get a lot more air to the rad as the condensor will be removed. remember to either remove the fan on the driver side or hook it up to same relay as rad fan.

I took out my AC this past summer. It took about 2 hrs, but that was mostly spent trying to free those bolts that hold the AC bracket to the block. The total weight savings is probably about 60 lbs. I don't know about a shroud or anything for the vents. I didn't remove the part that's between the firewall. I just disconnected the 2 hard lines that connect to the firewall, and used some duct tape to plug it up
You don't really get a power improvement, because the compressor doesen't use any power when it's not on.
I have heard from someone that their cooling fan stopped working when they removed their AC system. I haven't had a problem like this, but I only removed the AC hardware, and left the fuses and electronic stuff like the connectors. I don't know exactly if the AC system is tied in with the cooling system, but just keep this in mind

screw that..AC all the way (especially when you live in jersey). I sure don't want to sit in the traffic dying cuz of no ac

Jeff-
I think he means his "kit." You know, intercooler, manifold, downpipe, wastegate, BOV, intercooler piping, etc. I'm sure that'll add up.. but not to 100lbs. He's just exaggerating to be funny. Dont take it literally.

Thats the best way to roll!! I do all year long in here in Houston!!
I can't believe people actually take their A/C out. Dumbest trend ever. Kiss your resellability goodbye.
My Si actually came without A/C (one of the only ones that didn't have it), so I added it. I'll never own a car without it.

If I did it I'd save the parts to reinstall later. I don't plan on selling my car all modded out anyway.
