There really isn't any "very cheap" method of adding that much power to the D16. You're talking about an approximate 35-40 whp increase. Unfortunately, either your budget needs to be increased, or your power goals lowered.

If you're good with a wrench and know how to tear apart a motor, get some D16A6 pistons, thinner headgasket, ARP head studs, D16Y8 intake manifold (or better yet, Edelbrock) and some headwork, could get you into the 150+ range due to the motor being high compression now.

Forced induction would be the cheapest method of achieving that level of power. Greddy's bolt-on turbo kit should put you near your goal, and can be purchased for roughly $1600. Plan to spend more on accessories and additional items to have a truly well-running and reliable system though.

Nitrous would be the best bang for the buck to hit 150whp in this situation IMHO. Cheap, fast and fairly easy.

Thinner headgasket lowers the cylinder head which yields more compression in the cylinder.

But yeah, Ricey has a good point. 55-shot of nitrous would work.

Can't get much with $200. Just an exhaust system or a header. If you have like an extra $200, you can get a complete nitrous system. Pulleys are not worth it. You can piece together your exhaust from http://www.kteller.com with pipes and Mandrel bent pipes. Get a $70 AEM Short-Ram intake.

I/H/E

probably won't get you 150whp, but basic bolt-ons do count.

SHould? the stock boost on a greddy turbo is what? 7lbs? and a stock D16z6 has 127 hp and on 7 lbs of boost you should be damn near 180. you saying it SHOULD add only 20hp lol wow....
An easy way to tell is that the normal atmospheric pressure is 14lbs, and some change, and a z6 is making 127hp at that pressure. So if you add 7lbs of boost, your adding 50% more pressure, therefore you should be making 50% more power. But due to heat you'll have a loss of 10-20% of power. I didn't do the math but 180 sounds right to me

i read something about the short ram intake sheet, and it seems that you are actually loosing power due to pulling only hot air in. so i guess a caol air intake is better, right???
what kinda header is good?? theres several headers for like 50$ on ebay. their no name, but is that okey??

The original poster stated that his goal was "at least 150 hp to the ground", in other words, 150 whp. A stock D16 will normally make somewhere around 110-115 whp. Subtract one from the other, and his goal works out to an increase of 35-40 whp. Regardless of the formula you presented, if you're under the impression that a stock D16 Greddy kit that has simply been bolted-on will make anywhere near 180 whp , you're simply misinformed.

Dammit I just used the formula i posted and proved myself wrong...

(127)(1.5)(.8)=152.4hp and yeah that's being generous....
the 127hp is base hp, the 1.5 is 7lbs of boost with no loss, and the .8 means 80% efficiency.
So yeah you were right
my bad bro

I really hate to say this, but cheapest and easiest would be nitro.
