I swapped a 93 EX Vtec into my 89 STD hatch converting to obd1
Im getting a bouncy idle (1k to 1.5k RPM's) Could someone help me out to figure whats going on...
The code Im getting goes like this:

1 quick/flash blink
4 steady
1 quick/flash blink

Someone plz help me out here

The CEL just comes on

The CEL light just comes on'

 

When that light comes on, there is a way to check and see what is wrong.

Try searching under "CEL" or "codes".

 

Did you wire up a switch to check codes?

Well I took off the IACV and this thing was so damn dirty cleaned it out with throtlle cleaner and the Idle was fine for a little while and no CEL then on my way home it started acting up again same dilemma bouncy idle and CEL it just makes me nuts to hear my engine idle that way when I stop at a light

 

im kinda in the same dilleama but only when i have the fields controller on
i have a
90std hatch
d16z6/crx si trans
p28 ecu, obd 1 conversion harness


mine idles to 1.5 when i have the vtec controller on, the cel coems on to, u have to jump two terminals together then the cel will blink in the dash then count the blinks and you'll know the code..i dont know where they are in 89s but in 90-91s tehre supose to be by the shock tower, either u can directly make a switch to the diganostic pin and then flip that and count or find out where exatcly u jump it on 89s, because ur using a obd1 ecu now, and obd1 ecus dont have a light on the actual ecu u can count like on obd0 so u gotta jump it or make a switch


how do u like the pull? mine pulls good and i can totally her the crossover, u got a 89 so it probably pulls better than mine damn heavy 90-91s

Yeah she does pull hard its a nice difference from the stock d15b1 motor

man when i drove it home after i got it swaped man i was amazed at the lil sohc vtec

so it is 1 flash followed by a pause and the 4 steady and flash and then pause and it starts over?

if so they are both heated o2 sensor codes. i think 1 is for signal.

fix that stuff first and see if it helps the idle. i've seen it fix idle once.

Yeah thats exactly how the CEL flashes
I have a O2 from a EK....does that matter?

 

it shouldn't. you just need to have all 4 wires on the o2 connected to the ecu.
