Default Wondering how to remove the stock stereo from a 92 Civic CX.

I am in the process of replacing my stock stereo with a cd player but I can't figure out how to get the stock radio out of my car. Can anyone tell me how to remove the panel surrounding the radio in order to get the stock stereo out and replace it with the new cd player?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thankx,
Scottpodj

I just replaced my stereo and im trying to remember how exactly i got the part out. Chances are I just stuck a flat piece of metal in on both sides and pulled, and the radio just slides out, not the most graceful method but it works. Really the stock radio should come out like any other aftermarket one where you just slip metal sheets on both sides and pull. You could probably use a flat bladed screwdriver if your careful.
Hope that helps.

Did you try removing the screws holding the part of the console with the cig lighter? Remove screws, pull off the plastic and push stereo out from underneath.

Check out the PDF below, you'll notice it claims to be for 93' - 95' .. I think that is a typo because it's the same exact procedure for 92' models, cause I have one:

http://www.installdr.com/Insta...7.pdf

Also, note that they mention you need to undo some screws that hold the radio in place, i found my radio was not held in with screws at all and I could have pulled it out without taking off the bottom panel by putting my finger in the tape door and pull on the face of the Radio... Try that, not too hard though.

Paprika is right its how i removed my stereo i pulled it out by putting my hand in the tape deck and it just slid out. Though im not really sure why there were no screws if there supposed to be there..... oh well.....
