I talked with MSD yesterday. They said I can get their "Boost Timing Master" that will hook up with my existing MSD SCI ignition, that will allow me to run stock timing in non-boost applications and retard timing under boost...this of course would be really nice for my "low end" when Im not in boost situations.
the minimum setting is .5 degree per pound of boost, so at 10psi im retarded 5 degress, which is pretty much where Im set at now full time. A nice feature is that this is adjustable from the cockpit so that by the turn of a dial I can adjust the timing towards additional retard if necessary due to detonation.
THEN, another thing Im thinking, is to be able to more acurately detect "subtle" detonation MSD has a "stand alone knock sensor" which mounts in the cockpit and has an led display to read detonation (they swear its very accurate and sensitive, with a sensitivty adjustment)...in theory, if the led reads detonation, turn the dial on the timing retard ****....
This setup SOUNDS good (although perhaps a bit retarded) to me "in theory," what do you think about its practical application? What are the drawback/benefits you see??
we're talking about $360.00 for both so I wanna make sure its worth the money (or $200.00 for just the Boost Timing Master alone).
So fiending boost brothers, what do ya think??

You should also think about getting the J&S ultra V2.0 instead of the MSD6BTM and knock sensor.
I've also heard complants about the J&S regarding setup, reliability and adjustability...any thoughts??
Also, Im currently using GReddy Blue Box and VAFC so I gotta make sure Im not running into conflicts...

V.0 $450.00 Knock Retard only
V.1 $495.00 Knock Retard, Boost Retard, and selectable RPM retard
V.2 $545.00 All that, plus an "electronic check valve" adjustable MAP Limiter
V.1 $495.00 Knock Retard, Boost Retard, and selectable RPM retard
V.2 $545.00 All that, plus an "electronic check valve" adjustable MAP Limiter

What is selectable RPM retard? Also, what is the minimum degree of retard per pound of boost? (MSD is .5 minumum in .5 increments up to 3)
And whats the web site????
