you need some kinda of igniotion retarding control non the less get a standalone or something, no piggy back **** please )

when u boost, you need to retard your ig timing for several reasons, yes it decreases a few ponies but its make ur engine happy, liek .75 degree retard per pound of boost. helps pre-det, detonation, knock and that affiliatted things.

like wade said

the MSD BTM retards ur ignition timming /per pdn of boost..

before ur engine sees boost it runs normally, once it boosts, this ignition will start retardign ur ignition to avoid detonation

its got a **** on it that you pre-set. 0-3 degrees on mine per pound of boost.

bit off topic here...but if you use a VAFC vs. an SAFC will it advance timing despite the use of a BTM?
