how to clock a stuck turbo?
I've got an old Garrett T3 from a Ford Supercoupe I'm trying to install and I can't get the bitch to move. I need to clock the center housing so the oil return is straight down, but it's stuck and not moving. I've loosened all the bolts, soaked it with rust penetrant, tried fifteen different ways to rotate it (torch, hammer, pry bars..), NOTHING. any tips? I'm about to bite the bullet and order a new snail (which I'd prefer anyway but the $$ is holding me back) This is for a 96 LS w/ stock internals. any recommendations if i do order a new turbo? The one I have now is .48 a/r exhaust and .63a/r compressor. thx H-T
have you tried a rubber mallet? if you use a rubber mallet, with the turbo in a vice or something so it WONT BUDGE, then wack the crap out of it with the rubber mallet, it might just do it. Goodluck!
Yeah, I would say use a large rubber mallet. Really though, I'd consider investing in a brand new or freshly rebuilt turbo.
I've got a t3/t4 on my stock LS, and I love it. .48 exhaust AR, .60 compressor AR

I bought it from a guy on this board [Vtec92Civic]...it is used but has a brand new center section and shaft/wheels...and had the two housings cleaned up.
I'm boosting 8psi...but I am having some serious issues with the block, so I am not driving it right now. I haven't watched to see when I get full spool by.
