Why do all pre-fabricated cat back systems taper down at the a pipe?
do all systems taper down to fit with the stock cat diameter? it just seems stupid to me to spend all that money on a larger exhaust system just to have it bottleneck at the joint. do you think this hampers performance enough to justify cutting off the tapered piece and welding on fatter piping?
the reason why im asking is that i just ordered a 2.5" hi flow cat and that little taper is starting to bug me!

the answer is kinda obvious isn't it? They are made to fit stock cats so that they fit 95% of applications. It's only the 1% of retards like us that run test pipes/high flow cats.
A custom system from someone would give you what you were looking for, or just cut and weld as you said

the only brand that i bought, that doesnt have a bottle neck at the cat is the Tsudo Exhaust system.
draw back to that is that it has a silencer built in at the end of the exhaust.. which u have to break the 4 tack welds and pull it out
but after that its a full 2.5 in SS exhaust system, that prefabbed

do you think its worth the extra hassle to cut and weld off the tapered piece? or the difference in performance is negotiable?
wow.. i never knew tsudeo made full cat back systems. it looks pretty damn sweet.

its probably worth doing.. but big thing on that you wont find another stock flange that is 2.5 inch what i had to do to get extra flanges of that shape.. to custom make my down pipe.. I bought one of those EBAY test pipes.. cut the flange out.. and welded that flange to my custom Downpipe
good luck tho
and yeah TSUDO cat backs own.. b/c of the price hahahah i love ebay

LOL no it just looked like the G-power and its a rare exhaust and i know because i got one on my ride right now, but i think i can sell it for you, email me pics and price, try takeing some wetsand 2000grit sand paper to the muffler rear section, will take off all that crap and make the rear part look new again. specalk99@yahoo.com is my email
But alot of people think thats the bext fitting exhasut and best sounding next to the mugen, plus it sits up high so when ur lowered u donot scrape the mid pipe, its one of the only prelude 5th gen exhaust i know of that can do that.
