Default Misshift woes...

Alright, heading to friend's house, misshifted 2-3 BAD, it felt terribly mushy and the gear didn't catch so I obviously wasn't engaged in 3rd fully.

Now the problem is I still have that same feeling when trying to shift into 1st, 3rd, and 5th, I can still feel when it goes into gear but it's not a smooth feeling at all. The feeling for 2nd, 4th, and Reverse isn't feeling that great either but it's better than the top gears...

I've been told my two friends that it's probably the shift linkage, broken and not changing gears properly. I just want to make sure I'm getting the same opinion all around...
Thanks guys

Yea dude probaly your shift linkage. I had the same exact thing except my clutch was going which caused some of the problem. But the gears feel really stiff when shifting. Do you find yourself using a little bit more force too?

Yup, exactly, just doesn't feel near as precise as before, really stiff and can barely get into gear...

The "mush" feeling is caused because either you are missing a linkage clip or the cable is busted and you are feeling it binding up before it finally binds up enough and pushes it into gear.

If you have play while in gear then it might just be the linkage clip, but if there isnt any play and you have mush, its the linkage.

i am currently have the same problem, but i do not have any problems getting it into gear. Its just that i have of play when i am in gear and i am wondering what the problem could be?

you guys were saying linkage clip?

how would i get rid of this play?? It has to much in 1st, 3rd, and 5th...and how much would it cost? lastly, if i have the extended warranty through honda, will they cover it?

note* I replaced my cltch and flywheel about 2 months ago.

any info would be great

Theres some clips and plastic on the shifter assembly. Mine had the plastic worn and I had trouble shifting from 3-4 and had a lot of play. Replaced it and now it shifts good.

Very cheap. The clips are the (4) #22s in this picture. If you have a lot of play in gear, check that these are all there and secure.

mine was acting up, i could get it into gear, especially third, driving normally, but at the track trying to go quickly into third it wouldnt go, no grinding, just felt weird and wouldnt go in, turns out my linkage coatings were cracked, thus allowing the cables to slide out the side instead of going where they were supposed to, you cna find linkages at local yard for pretty cheap...but its a pita to change the linkage out, i cut my fingers up pretty good on that one

take your center console out and look at the linkage, mine felt really loose and not precise for a while then i hammered it once/misshifted and the linkage came apart. bushing, washer, and nut, i just put it back together, tightened it, and it was sooooo much smoother

You should love the tranny, there's a reason it's called the bulletproof transmission.
If the prelude linkages fit, than use them, and yes, it is a bitch to change them out, took me a total of like 3-4 hours with no help. Didn't solve my above problem totally but it does feel better, I have consulted with people and it seems like the problem is gonna be internal, lucky me

For anyone asking, the accord and prelude linkages are exactly the same except for the rings that attach to the shifter, one is bigger and one is smaller on the prelude, but on the accord, they are the same size, no biggie, but the point is that are they are exchangable, even though this is probably common knowledge.. .

could someone please find the picture showing the connector on top of the tranny where the cables go. Inside is a spring and some kinda of gate that blocks it from going on reverse. I need to figure out how it works so I know how to fix it.. thank you..

bascally the other part of the pic shown above...
thanks
