Sounds weird..... Did you empty the oil in the tranns? or is it full? if its full don't worry bout it it should go into gear good.
Go out on a test drive and drive first gear and try 2nd if no 2nd skip it and go into 3rd gear if 1st and 3rd gear are good then recheck how you installed the shift linkage. you might had bent it or forgot to install the second linkage cause their 2 of them and i think the other it for bottom gears.
Good luck YOOOO!!!

So it won't go into gear with the engine off either or it does? What was the reason for replacing the clutch in the first place?

Re: help please with trans
Well, try putting it in 2nd gear when car is off, and start it in 2nd gear. if you hear some grinding or whatever...means you probably need to redo your clutch. That happen to me once, but wasn't after i replaced the clutch though. It was after i beat on my car...LOLs! Good luck!

ok so the bottom gears wont go in even if the car is off. they just dont go in at all... clutch engaged, disengaged, car on, car off...just dont go in =(. i see people are saying linkage. when i pulled the tranny out i never pulled off the bitch pin or any of that, just unhooked it from the shifter and pulled it out like that and when i put it back it i just bolted the bar back up to the shifter. so what do i look for in the linkage?

Re: help please with trans
ok so i just wanted to give you guys an update. i fixed the problem, the little clip that goes over the "bitch" pin slipped off, it slipped between the shift rod and the tranny, so when i would try shifting to the bottom gears (which would be pushing in into the tranny) that clip was in the way, in between, so the shifts couldnt go in.

Re: help please with trans
I hate those little things........ A buddy and I were putting a tranny back on after a clutch install and the damn thing just wouldnt go in. I could tell the shaft was in the clutch disc but the tranny wouldnt mate up with the block. After about two hours of yelling and cursing my poor little B16 my buddy remembered he put one of the bolt back into a hole underneath on the back of the block so he wouldnt lose it. I almost killed him
