D Series Thoughts
I am looking to build a D-series motor and was wondering what setup to go with. I hav a a6, z6, and y8 block and a a6,z6,y8 head and manifold. I was wonder what would be the best and strongest choice to use for a all motor single cam. Also, what pistons, and rods should i run?
From all the research I've seen, the A6 head flows the best, then the Z6, then the Y8. For a street motor, its fine to use any of those. For an all out race motor, A6 all the way.

I built a Z6 with Aries 11:1 pistons, LS rods ( machined of course), JG head, with 85VT80 cam, JG TBI, rechipped ecu, Y8 manifold and a piece of **** header. I ran 14.1 in a 93 hatchback with 20x14x8 MT slicks. Not bad i think.

theyre both SOHC POS motors....
they'll perform about the same with a HUGE CAM.

Thanks man, it's not bad. I was looking for more power so i pulled the motor and now i'm getting a new one done up. Can't give alot of details but it should be real intersesting in the NDRA Comp 4 class in Houston. SOHC All Motor should turn some heads.
