Turbo...do you need VTEC???
I have a b18b1 and im gonna go turbo and i was alsothing about gettin a new head a vtec head but idk if i need it. I think all the money it will take i would be better off wiht low compression pistions or something. Let me know what you guys think

First do you need Vtec? No, there are lots of LS turbos running around making some real good power. Its all in the tuning, with proper tuning you can make a lot of power. You can go Vtec, it will make more power but will also take more complex tuning and fuel mangament to run properly. Low compression pistons would not be a bad idea, I have seen stock LS bottom ends take 15 PSI and run like a bat out hell. They also had really good engine managment. Have fun.

you dont really nned it if your going turbo
but the vtec head does flow better
if 2 car had the exact same set up , same turbo same compression but one had a vtec head the one with vtec will still make more power

You could put it to much better use is different areas such as pistons or just more tuning. The vtec will not be missed when driving a properly tuned LS turbo.</TD></TR></TABLE>
very true.. isnt it shermang (think thats his name) he's puttin down 300 or 400 whp? post the link of someone know's what im talkin about.. he's all LS.. sexy setup he has...

tuned turbo LS's have thrown down 330whp on stock motor with under 10psi. want a link? http://www.racelinetuning.com look in the gallery. thats a buddy of mine's RHD eh2 w/ a stock LS (not stock anymore, spiked 15 psi and shot rods everywhere) but it made 330 whp stock ls w/ 9.1 psi
no you won't miss vtec if your motor is healthy and your setup is properly pieced together. at the moment i'm making 300whp on 10psi on my LS with 9:1 compression pistons on a really rich map and poor ignition tuning.
i'm not sure if i'm making more now that i've leaned it out a bit using my WB on my EMS but it sure feels like it...my heavy *** 17" konigs break loose in 1st, beginning and end of 2nd...chrips 3rd. before it wasn't able to do that since after 3.5k rpm a/f dropped straight down to 11:1
anyway...sorry for carrying on like that...i'm at work and busting out a 21hour double shift...
a little tip for you...since the LS flows poorly what you should do is try to maximize your air flow without causing any sort of turbulance from the turbo to the motor and also your exhaust flow.

dude...there is no 900hp civic.
and if you're talking about porkey's at Midway in St.Paul...the most any civic is making out there is probably 375whp...and i know/met the guy too. GSR turbo civic hatchback...carries slicks in his trunk.

thats for the info i guess i will take that money and low compression pistons, injectors or just something that i will get more hp/$. Thanks for the info
