Default VTEC HEAD

Hey guys. I am currently driving an LS but want more speed. I have looked into options as, getting a turbo kit, changing to a vtec head, or just getting a new motor. I have extreemly low mileage (32,000) original mileage. I wanted to get a type R head, but dont know if i should. I am scared that i might mess the whole thing up and **** up my motor. Tell me what you think. Thanks

I would suggest dropping in a turbo, its the best way to make more power without too much money, especially since you still have a reliable engine ...but if you want to go LS/Vtec thats good too, just more work

If youre afraid of switching the heads to make it an lsvtec then I wouldnt do it..
there are a lot of nice writeups on how to do it properly and all of that, so you coudl either read up on that, or do the easier cheaper way of making a lot more power and going turbo.
If you have huge plans for the car, You should read up a lot on the lsvtec and do that, then turbo it later down the road, but dont do that unless you feel really confident about the vtec conversion

i'm running an LS-VTEC with a Type R head and it's great. Good low end torque for a 1.8L although there is a dip in the power around 4000 right before the VTEC solenoid triggers and the secondaries open up, but then it just screams to 7200...where unless it's a BUILT LS B18B (Pistons, rods, etc.), you MUST shift or rods will be thrown. But other than that, it's lot's of fun and still get's great mileage to boot. Now mine is a quite modded LS-VTEC, so your opinion might differ from mine should you choose to go that route....BUT....i'm planning on turbo-ing this setup...then the dip in power should disappear as well as a bit of the competition...
