how much slack should there be in the belt?

how do i tighten...i tightened the tensioner all the way and on the longside (front) of the belt it seems to be a little loose

You loosen the tensioner and turn the crank in the proper direction 3 cam teeth and then tighten the tensioner..

If you have a helms manual it should tell you the proper way to tension the belt. I believe that it is 3 cam teeth of a turn, or something like that, of the crank. Then tighten the tensioner.... Good luck

the belt will be a little loose untill the car is warmed up.... also the intake side tends to have a bit more slack

well i won't have the engine in until it is finished, and i wanted to make sure that everything was good to go before i dropped it in...would be a pain to do timing belt work with it in

incase they havent told you yet you shouldnt be able to turn the belt more then 90 degrees ones everythings been tighned down.

with your fingures on the actual belt . between the cam sprocket and the crank pulley(front). if you can rotate the belt more than 90 degrees then its to loose.
