Ok so I’m doing an auto to manual conversion on a 95 DX. I have pretty much everything installed but the upper engine mount. I read it needs to be cut and re-welded. Now I need your guys help. Tell me exactly where do I have to move it. How much down/up and/or left/right. Please be specific and if you have any pictures of before/after that would be great. Thank you.

 

bah, just buy the mount, $130 at jdmshit.com Anyway, my friends just bolted everything up including the passenger tranny mount and put the engine in, and welded it where it sat

 

thats the best way to do it take it out bolt up everything else and weld it where it sits.... and if the motor is off level at all (sitting crooked) you can adjust from there instead of cutting welding and then realizing that you were 1/4 off... just do it that way its alot easier

 

So I should put the tranny and motor back in the car and re-weld it then?
And i can reuse the same motor mount right? i dont need to buy another one

 

you dont have to buy another one... the easiest way to do it is go to http://www.jdmshit.com and go under mounts and but the "EG-AT transmission mount (for automatic chasis) this saves you all the cutting and re-welding.......it mounts into your body mount and is made to reach to your manual tranny... from the research ive done ive found out that it works better than cutting and re-welding...it dosent cause all the problems of leveling and percise measurements......so id try that first and its only like $100-$130 doallars..................well welll welll worth it

 

i used the place racing mount in my last EG 4dr. they were all that were out at the time. i paid $150 and its a poly mount and did the job. i guess the jdmshit one is quality as well. just do that and be safe and bolt on process.

 

Get the actual welded-on mount from a manual trans car. It has a little different bend than a auto mount. If the engine is sitting in place, its a no-brainer to see where the mount should be welded. You can get on at a parts yard for next to nothing (I got mine for $5) and all it takes to get it is a good cordless drill and a good drill bit.
