KYB AGX's
I just bought a set of ground control coilovers for my 91 crx si and i am looking to buy a set a kyb agx's, i have heard a lot of good things about them on ht, i was wondering what online website hasthem for cheap,i looked and found them for like 419 on inlinefour but i remember seeing them for like 350 or around there...If anybody has any info that would be very helpful thanks..
if you have GC, do not buy KYB AGXs!!! if you lower it more than 1.8-2.0 inchs that will void your warrenty and i think they will blow easier...if you have GC look into getting some koni yellows...
Koni Yellows would be overkill if this is for a daily driven car.
From a price standpoint:
Agx - 300
Yellows - 500
If the Agx blow, it'll be 300 to buy a new set. When the Yellows blow, it'll be somewhere around 130 to revalve each, 520ish for all four.
From a performance standpoint
No doubt i'm sure the Yellows trounce the Agx, if you're willing to pay that difference in $$ for the better suspension.
Now, common sense...
If you wanted to lower your car 3 inches on the agx, you would have voided your warranty by an excess of 1.5 inches. For the rear, this can be fixed by using 2 inch top hats which you can have welded. As for the front, a 1 inch top hat mod would "reduce" the 3 inch drop by 1 inch, creating a 2 inch drop. Now, if kyb denies your 2 inch drop, as it is still violating their warranty, you have a third option.
You can do the brake bracket mod, which allows you to move the brake bracket up about a quarter of an inch, gaining you that much more travel. So, you're still violating the warranty, but you have more travel. In this case, the rears would be covered under warranty, but the fronts would have to be replaced (but they would still last much longer with these mods than without). Having to replace the fronts would only cost 150, whereas the rear should be free.

I think the brake bracket mod drops you more than it gives you suspension travel, that's what the hats do effectively. You're just shortening the suspension when you move the fork up, and that's kind of defeating the purpose of what you're trying to do, isn't it? Or do I understand wrong about what the mod does exactly? From what I picture in my head you're not gaining any travel on the strut really.
How low are you planning on dropping the car??
I have the exact same setup on my car and I like it alot. Of course I don't have the car slammed either. Check the details of the warranty that Koni offers because I don't know what it is if the car is dropped more than a set amount.

I read about the brake bracket mod for producing more travel for the strut when lowered.
My quesion is, what does useing 2/1 inch top hats consist of?
is it a mod to the existing hat? how does it work? tia

The first thread will explain EVERYTHING, whereas the second thread shows a few pictures/explanations of my mods. I think i brought up the details well enough in the second thread, but if anything is missing, i'll be here.

Just because they don't warranty you over 1.5 doesn't mean they will blow over that. That is just keeping it the safe side so people won't slam them and they get a bunch of people bitching. I've had my GR2's well around 2" and never had a problem, now I have AGX with the same drop and they are good for the money, ofcourse Yellows are better but they are $200 more then what I got my AGX for.

IMHO. Koni yellows are over-rated.. not saying they aren't good shocks but I've run on three differen't types-
Koni Yellow w/ neuspeed race springs
Bilstien HD w/ eibach sportline
and
KYB AGX w/cheap coilovers
I would say
Bilstien > koni = agx
Of course thats my opinion but as far as ride quality goes.. biltiens are
