S2000 Tranny No 6th Gear (Help!!!)
What does it do? 5 and 6 use the same gear selector, so if 5th works, 6th should too. If it doesn't, then the syncro likely broken. The dog teeth on the selector could be broken too, but there are plenty of them and this is unlikely.
Try double clutching. Put the car in neutral (while moving). Blip the throttle while putting pressure on 6th. If the gear engages suddenly, the syncro is broken. If all you hear is grinding, one of the dog teeth may be deformed not allowing the gear to engage.

the problem was isolated to select vin #s in the 2000 model year and it didn't relate to 6th gear. It was 2nd gear.

nope i heard of a lot of people on s2ki with the same problem mostly on 00-01 models...i think it has something to do with cleaning around the shifter assy....

I've also heard this. I think S2KI should be back up mid to late Sunday if you wanna check with billman. Good luck either way.
