I was thinking the same thing when I saw the CRV has 160 ftlbs of torque! Maybe you could throw that motor into the 01 Civic?

I am sure it will be done soon. If I lived where there were a ton of honda tuners with hookups, I would personally attempt it.

Since the new K24 CRV block is i-VTEC as well I wonder if the rsx type-s head will bolt on no problem? Maybe running external oil lines for VTEC will be a thing of the past?

Anyone know if you could bolt a K24 in a 2001 Civic? The new crv and the 7g civic share the same chassie.

I'd say the K24 block is more trouble than it's worth. Sure, displacement is nice, but when it comes with a 99 mm stroke . . . . .

Fat chance of seeing anything over 7,000 rpms.

Best possibility that I can see right now is a Type S head on the Civic Si. Too bad the new Civic hatch isn't much lighter than the RSX, though.

Yea, this is true. But I think it has a larger bore, so how about destroking it with a K20 crank?

The type-s head should have been on the new Si in the first place!

The K20c (rsx-s) is 86mmX86mm, and the K24 (cr-v) is 87mmX99mm. Destroking it with a K20c doesn't seem worth it for just 1 mm of bore. You could probably get that out of the stock K20 block. But I don't think there's too many pistons available for overbored K-series, and I doubt you'd want to use CR-V pistons.

I'm curious as to what the differences are between the base RSX (K20a) & Civic Si (engine code?). I believe power output is slightly different, which leads one to believe that they're not exactly the same. It'd be nice if the Civic at least came with the type S bottom end (higher compression pistons, beefier rods).

Another possibility I noticed lies within trannies . . . . the 5-speed CR-V final drive is 4.765. RSX-S is around 4.36, I think, which would be a significant jump. Assuming the trannies are similiar enough for it to be a possiblity, that is.

I got the K20a/c engine specs from sport compact car, and K24 specs from some generic web source (yahoo/google).

Ok, so the destroking thing is pretty pointless.

I didn't think there was a difference between the base RSX engine and the New Si engine? What is the power difference?

The FD differences is interesting.

Yeah, I seem to recall that the Civic Si & base RSX made their peak numbers at slightly different RPM's. Which could be just different tuning of the iVTEC. Fuzzy memory, though, I could be wrong.

I'll look around & try to figure out where I saw that.
