MAX rpm ITR?

Ive got this strange thing:
When I use my stock EDM ITR ECU, the rev counter goes way up to 8900rpm before the ecu kills it.
When I use my chrome modified P30 ecu with the limiter set at 8600rpm, the rev counter goes only to 8600rpm before the ecu kills it.
Normally, as far as I know, the stock rev counter is a bit optimistic and 8900rpm at the dial should be 8600rpm in real.
But now I'm not sure anymore. Is the stock rev limiter 8600rpm or is it higher?

I think you should use an accurate tachometer to check this.
Some people here says that the stock rev limiter is 8400, some says 8500 and some 8600 rpm.

That is for sure... the stock tach easily reads a couple hundred rpm off.... The redline should be 8400 (where the red part of the tach begins) and the fuel should be cut at 8600, in real rpm. 8900 on the tach is not out of the ordinary... perhaps a fuel cut of 8400 was put onto the p30?
I'll check my peak on the VAFC on the way home on the toll highway... not that I'm going to drive it fast (of course)...

The max rpm in the chrome program is at 8600rpm. I checked this several times.
And the limiter IS lower than normal. I'm hitting the limiter every time just before I want to shift. My ears say "almost at max rpm" but the limiter is spoiling my fun a bit earlier......
strange.....

I'd suggest the aftermarket ECU (Chrome) is just being conservative, and that you should modify your shift(ing) practice accordingly!

No, I have to change the chrome setting to 8800rpm!

i just put the jdm cluster in my usdm type r and the tach goes all the way to 9 before rev limit. my old usdm cluster went to 8600 before rev limit.

Is the fuelcut in europe higher? strange...</TD></TR></TABLE>
No, every tach is different. In my ITR, VTEC hits at 6000 rpm on the tach at full throttle. So, my tach is off by (6000-5700)/5700 = 5%.
8400 in real would be 6000/5700 * 8400 = 8842 on my tach. Fuel cut is at around 8900 rpm on the tach. So, I'm not sure if my fuel cut is at 8400 or 8600 or somewhere in between.

Are people reading this thread or just posting? Stock ITR tachs are not accurate!
I believe the concensus is that fuel cutoff in a stock ITR is at a real 8600 rpm.
