Default T3 and T4 comp housing fitment?

Ive got a T3 turbo which has been fitted with a T4vtrim compressor wheel. obviously the T3 compressor housing had to be machined to fit the T4 wheel. My question is: can I just buy a T4 Compressor housing and bolt it on?

A T4 compressor housing is too large in diameter to fit on a T3 backplate. Do you have a T4 or T3 backplate? You said you had the T3 compressor housing machined to fit a V trim compressor, but didn't mention machining the backplate. A V trim is from the T4 family and has a major diameter of either 2.75" (standard V) or 3" (Super V). An umodified T3 backplate accepts only a 2.36" wheel, so either your T3 backplate was machined to take a T4 compressor wheel or else it has already been swapped for a T4 backplate.
