Default Anybody know how to test a ECT "Switch"?

I was wondering what type of problems a busted ECT switch might cause. I've tried looking through my helms manual and I can't find how to test the ECT Switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You......

Below the switch point it is an open circuit. Above the switch point it will be a closed ciruit. Test it with an ohm meter if it is not connected. If you leave it in the circuit, test it with a volt meter.
