Day 5 on removing engine
1991 Honda Civic DX Manual Transaxle - is there some sort of secret on how to remove (I believe he called it) the "roll pin" (not exactly sure where) but, something to do with tranny? This is the only thing holding him up from getting the engine out. We are on day 5 just for engine removal. Does it need to be in a certain gear, or neutral? I"m just throwing some things in the air, I thank you ahead of time for any comments you all may have.
Thanks

He said he tried that, could the ends be messed up somehow? This is what he is thinking - that maybe he needs to sand them off/down?
I'm more than happy to listen to any/all suggestions, at this point the most seemingly obvious thing is probably what has been overlooked.
Thanks again,
Suz'

PB Blaster + MAPP Gas Torch + 8mm bolt/punch + hammer = no more bitch pin.
The bitch pins will come out. You have to bang like all hell for a couple minutes straight and it will look like nothing is happening but eventually it will just start to slide out. Its really not that hard. It can be hard if you are like lying on your back under the car but if you can't get the linkage off seperate the engine and tranny, pull engine from the top and tranny out of the bottom.

Spray with PB blast, let set a half hour or so, spray again and wiggle the **** out of the shfit rod to get it all in there. 8mm punch, BFH(big ******* hammer), and hope your arm holds out. Once it starts to budge its cake. Oh, and always replace this part, dont reuse the spring clip, its only like $2 at honda. Some people use 8mm bolts instead but I tried this and my shifter felt a bit loose...good luck.

i have done 2 swaps and i have never got it out until i got it all out
just unbolt it from the car jack the car up alot then start pulling up the eng. and once the link is clear and you can lower the car with out any thing setting on it than lower the car and slide it all over the car then try to get that pin out.
put a scrow driver on the pin and hammer the **** out of it

Thats what I did. Its 10 times easier then trying to do it under the car. I also put the shiftlinkage on when I dropped the motor in fromt the top. It was sort of a pain sometimes, but it sure was easy to just bolt it up to the shifter once the engine was in. If all else fails or you loose your temper, bust out with the hack saw!
Good Luck

YEAH - finally got pin out, my thought (which turned out to be correct) was that it was possibly bound up, he had it jacked up to high and it was catching somewhere, when he let it down a bit it came right out. Wish he would have listened to me a couple of days ago.
I totally agree, 6 days to remove an engine, my ex husband is a mechanic and it never took him more than a few hours, could have had the entire swap done in a day or so. I'm hoping to have a car again before summer starts. LOL
I'm sure I'll be posting more, now he's wondering if he has to take the entire front end off to get the engine out. If nothing else this has been somewhat comical. As you can guess, he's not mechanically enclined, but at least he's trying.
Thanks again,
Suz

in short.. no, the whole front end does not come off to get the engine out.. pulling the radiator and removing the transmission mount will make it a LOT easier though. Removing the battery tray might help some too.
When I pulled my engine, it was my first time, took me 4 hours.
