Default Trans stuck to engine?

I have my engine and trans out, and I cant seem to split my transmission from the engine, All the bolts are removed and the trans is about 1 1/2" slit away from the engine, and can do a full twist, but it WILL NOT come off.

Any tips or suggestions? Ive used a prybar prying for the longest, Im wondering if I need to get two large ones and pry the **** out of it, but im afraid to break something

Did you take the release fork out? DOH! If it's not that, then it's the starter's top bolt. You said it does a full twist, around the output shaft? If so, then it's not the starter bolt.

Do not forcibly pry that tranny off. It should slide off. I hope you have a Service Manual, because it specifically says remove the release fork.

Damn.. 14 beers down and I still got it!!!! expletive YAAAHHHH!!

You don't take it out until the tranny comes off. You don't even need too. Just pull on it and it will snap out of its groove, then hold it in the "out" position and the tranny just comes off.

Props for doing gearwork on New Years Eve. I wrenched this morning myself.

It shouldn't dangle at all. It will catch on the bell housing or the output shaft if you dont hold it all the way out. Other than that, there shouldn't be anything else in the way. Seriously, grab a Service Manual before you undertake something like this. Having diagrams in front of your face helps. I can't think of anything else that might catch, so good luck. I'm outta here.

Pull it out so its loose and dangling. There's not many things you can do with that release fork; I doubt you could disengage the clutch with your hand...

As long as it's out of it's retainer clip. The clip is on the block, while the fork is wedged in the tranny. If anything catches between there, you wont be able to pull it off.

Here's an idea: Take a picture of what you're working with, it will help a lot.

Glad you got it. When I did it, the starter bolt was the one holding me up.
