Default Keep my z6 tranny on my d16y8 or swap in the y8 tranny

I swapped in my y8 motor a few weeks ago cause i soun a rod bearing in my z6. Should i keep my z6 tranny or should i just buy the y8 tranny? will there be in proformance gains from getting the y8 tranny ?

They're pretty much the same thing. Unless you find a Y8 transmission cheap and want to add an LSD, I don't think swapping one is worth it.

the two transmissions are practically identical, except that the Y8 tranny has steel shift forks, and the Z6 has aluminum shift forks. which makes it the better (stronger) tranny out of the two.

yeah, it probably isn't worth any extra money. the z6 and y8 gear ratios are the same

only difference is that the y8 has a steel stamped one compared to a aluminum shift fork (better) one in the z6. that and possibly the mileage....

edit... ^beat me to it... (i had steel/aluminum backwards too )

yea unless you you can sell your Z6 and buy a Y8 for the same price, i wouldnt bother with it.
just get a Y8 tranny when you really need a new tranny.
