d16y7 or y8 tranny
i have a full mini me setup ready to go on my 98 cx hatch , but my question is what tranny should i use?
the y8 tranny has a cracked housing so i will have to buy another one if i use that one
but my question is with boost and the vtec head wont the long gears of the y7 tranny be good for the 1320? i dont care about driving the car with just the mini me swap done , my main goal is to have it boosted, so i wanna pick the tranny that will be best for boost and the 1/4

Today I swapped out my y7 tranny for a y8 tranny and wow, what a difference. The car is a lot quicker, 3rd gear pulls real strong now. I would def. go with the y8 tranny.

Y8 all the way. I have the crappy y7 tranny and it is LONG. I can get to like 65 MPH in 2nd gear before I shift. That is the next thing on my list (along with a stronger clutch at the same time).

you'll never top out a Y8 tranny........
5th...7000 rpm....158.51 mph
You'll need 250-300 hp and aero mods to maintain control at that speed.

one time, in Canada on the QEW, 145 mph on the bottle and still pulling, VERY SLOWLY!!!!!!
removing the rear bumper cover does wonders for killer the rear end lift at those speeds..........
Yetm, I've never had the nutz to try again.
