Idle problem increasingly annoying
All-
Having problems with idle on my 'Sol D15B7. I've searched and can't find anything really close to the problem i'm having. It doesn't matter if I've just started it or if it's warm, the idle will jump from about 1200 to 700 up and down, up and down. It does it when you're moving but with the clutch in or rolling in neutral (cold and warm). It will do it when it's warm sitting at a stoplight. And, if it's parked and running, it will SLOWLY rise and fall from 1500-900 when the defroster or heater, etc is running. What the hell is the deal? I've checked my timing...it's off a bit
Other than that, i haven't done anything with it. I'll probably check IAC soon, adjust timing. Any suggestions/opinions? Thanks-

ive had this problem and solved it by adjusting my idle screw. read the helms for instructions on how to set idle, but my advice is when doing so, start from a very low idle and then work your way up. a high idle i think confuses the IACV because theres too much air coming in at idle. i did not touch the TPS or anything else to fix this issue. the IACV is also controlled by coolant temp, so that explains why ambient temp and heater use affects the problem.
I'll tell you what happened to mine...
Oil vapors that come from the PCV valve soaked all my intake manifold gaskets and caused them to leak thus causing shitty idle. It took me about 6 months to get this narrowed down....I bought a new throttle body, new TPS's, blah, blah....
But in the end all that was needed was replacing bad IM gaskets....Now I've had perfect idle for months
Maybe that'll fix yours...

I have a 95 civic dx with the same engine. Take off your IAC and clean it with throttle body cleaner let it dry. Try reinstalling and see what happens. IF this doesnt work try getting an extention while your car is running and tapping on it lightly. IF nothing still, check your o2 sensor. This was actually my problem. How many miles are on the car? When is the last time you changed your o2.
