Busted EK mount...buy new or upgrade.
So I take my car to the track for the first time after the swap. At the gas station afterwards noticed a bulge in my hood and I knew the drivers side mount was busted.
If I buy a new one is there a possibility of it breaking again. I heard that the fluid filled mounts on the 96+ are weak, but how long would a new one last?
Does anyone have experience with the aftermarket mounts that conver to an EG style mount?
Kinda short on cash, that's why I'm asking if I should go ahead and upgrade or not.
BTW: Car is a 97 with B18B

i busted my drivers mount in my ek with a b16 swap in it because i didnt have the ac mount on then i put the ac mount on and a new upper mount havent had a problem since and the mounts are on a itr motor now and still not a problem if u have the money to upgrade but if not as long as all your other mounts are ok and are on the car the stock mount will be fine
well... you can have two issues here.
1.) if they are aftermarket poly mounts like the hasport ones then your dash will rattle because they are so stiff. This is very good for performance because there is minimal motor movement thus xfering more power to the ground.... it is a price you pay similar to lowering your car; i.e. it will ride rougher but handle better.
2.) if they are oem stock motor mounts, they are probably worn and inserts wouldn't help much, you would have to replace the mounts.
Now if they are stock oem mounts and they are in good shape then installing inserts will further stiffen the stock mount and would CAUSE not ELIMINATE vibrations due to the stiffness it would create.

That's probably what did it for me then because I don't have the a/c mount on.

I have broke 4 of them and ALL my mounts were on i don't run the car when it is not complete.
I am welding in the Teg bracket now that the car is off the road, really thats the only perfect solution

I have broken the driver side mount 3 times already. The third time was with Prothane inserts in too. They are just weak. You best bet is getting either the Hasport or Place Racing driver side mount. But it have more vibrations, but it should last almost forever.
