I put the car in first and hit the gas and the car slugs. It feels bogged down till the rpms rise up then it takes off. Then when I shift to second it does the same thing. sluggish then back to normal. I think its timing problem.
Could you guys tell me how to fix timing problem. How do I adjust it.

 

What is it thats out of timing? crank cams? You need to give a bit more detail to your problem before you can get a correct answer.

more details? new motor, rebuilt motor, swapped motor, new car? Sounds like retarded timing or lean A/F ratio. Either way, more details please. What car/motor?

 

You IMed me earlier. Still trial user. No permission to IM back. Sorry. Anyway. What happened to me is I put the new distibutor on and the three holes for the screws, on the distributor not the head, were alligned wrong. The hoyes manual said to use a timing gun to check the timing and loosen the screws on the distributor and adjust it by turning it clockwise or couter-clockwise. I didnt have a t.gun at the time so I just looked a at the old distibutor and saw where the screws had been aligned, then matched the position on the new dist. It took care of the problem. Im getting a timing gun tomorrow so I can do it properly. I suggest you do the same to fix it right. If you check your timing and get it right and the problem still happens it might be a vacuum leak I was told. Hope it helped you.

If he had a vacuum leak then the idle would probably be all messed up.
