exhaust problem
Hey guys, i recently installed toda header, cat, type one b-pipe, and spoon n1. Everything was installed correctly, but the b-pipe (at the bend) hangs very low. Anyways, i autocrossed the car today...the b-pipe was actually moving up and down during the event, which caused a leak (car sounds funny). It is hanging even lower now. I haven't heard any scraping, but it's definitely a problem. I didn't finish the event, which pisses me off.
I feel like something needs to hold it up more near the bend. I don't know how to weld and would need someone to take care of this problem for me. My question is...has anyone taken their car to a muffler shop, and if so, how much does it cost? Basically, i need something added to hold up the middle part of the exhaust...and also just tighten everything up again. How much would that cost, any ideas? How long does something like that take? I know this doesn't sound like a big deal...but it's bothering me now. Has anyone had similar problem with type one b-pipe? Hm...

is the header a big 4-1 JDM style one (which would explain the much lower ground clearance)? seems like something wasn't secured properly if you're getting that much movement under there...
If the exhaust sounds like it's broken then possibly a flange broke off part of the piping or the cat. Still it seems very strange that you would be getting enough movement for the exhaust to actually break. You're sure you didn't smack the bottom of the header or anything on any part of the ground, right?

No, the header is toda's 4-2-1...and it has excellent ground clearance. The header isn't really part of this problem though and is an excellent piece...it's the b-pipe that's ruining my day. Basically i'm having problems between the cat and spoon n1. The exhaust doesn't sound broken (flanges did not break), but i know there is a leak...you can see a gasket kinda sticking out. The b-pipe hangs too low and was moving a lot during today's race. I think the movement of the b-pipe caused things to loosen up...and now there's a leak. I have pretty much identified the problem, my questions are...how much do you guys think it would cost to have this taken care of at a muffler shop? Basically, i need another hanger welded on...or something needs to be done to hold the middle part up higher. Also, everything will have to be tightened again. I don't believe anything was actually damaged.

Not that anyone really cares, but i took the car to a muffler shop and they shortened my type one b-pipe...things are good again. Car is better than before. Yay. Anyways...

Um...it was shortened a bit, nothing was actually removed. They cut the pipe toward the front end, but not the flange. They then expanded the shorter part (diameter increased a little) and fit the longer part in a little...so it shortened in length...then they welded it. Not sure why it wasn't fitting...the parts weren't specifically made for my gsr, so maybe that's it...don't know. I wasn't too happy that they cut my $300+ b-pipe, but things weren't working. It's running really well now however.
And cruisner - thanks dude.
