nitrous is not bad it's fuuuuuunnnnnnn if you do it right. I love nitrous it's great! Most people detonate their **** by not using enough fuel, nitrous is an oxygenator and in order for it to work properly and safely you need the right fuel/nitrous mix

SKRacer is right. If used incorrectly it can be bad. But if used and maintained right it is a good power booster. But like all things like that, over time it can wear your engine faster.

There are many reasons why people could have voted NOS as to be bad. Some people think that nitrous is cheating. and some people are afraid to use it because they do not understand what it really is. Just my opinion however.

NOS like other drugs, can be abused very easily...problem with fuel delivery is porbably the leading cause of failure. Also, people often time use NOS without building up the motor.....it adds power, just like everything else, thus stress goes up, a build up should follow for longevity.

NOS can have a negative/destructive effect on the engine when used improperly the same way other forms of forced induction (i.e. turbocharging, supercharging) can harm your engine if used improperly. The key is to use it wisely with safety in mind and not, for example, to try to tripple your horsepower by shooting too much of it into a stock engine.

When used wisely, NOS is by far the best way to generate horsepower for the cheapest amount of money. It definitely gives you the most horsepower for your buck. Some people call it cheating though. I say that its your money and you do whatever you damn well please with it. I do not consider it cheating. Will I get NOS though, absolutely not, but that is just becuause I do not want it and not because it is "cheating". Keep in mind though that like any other type of forced induction, NOS does increase the wear and tear on the engine, but if used correctly, not by much.

You are all aware that NOS is a company name and not a shorthand for Nitrous Oxide, right?

just like klenex is a form of tissue, but everyone asks for klenex not nose blowing material.

some brand names go beyond what the brand name is and end up encompassing the entire market.

anyway, I think everyone here realizes that NOS is a specific company, but everyone also knows what is meant.

You are aware that Kleenex is a brand not an acutal thing right?

Anyway, I think most people think Nitrous is was very high explosive gas, they don't realize its just an oxidizer.

nitrous oxide is actually a non-flamable gas like mentioned above. The effects it has on the engine is A- cooling the intake charge to make it more dense and B- when it reaches a critical temprature it breaks down and splits into Nitrogen and Oxygen, giving more oxygen in the camber, more oxygen = more fuel = more boom.

that was my exact point, you don't ask for the nose tissue, you ask for kleenex, it is a brand name that has gone beyond just that brand to encompass the whole market that it is focused on. in the south we don't ask for a soft drink, or soda, or pop, we ask for coke, and then they ask what kind. pepsi or coke? it is a rather strange thing when you think about it.

and I can't argue with the oxidizer because you are right on the mark
