Default b16 head on a b18 block

I'm no where near a Honda mechanic, so bear with me.

If I out a b16 head on my b18 block, that would be similar to an ITR motor, correct? Keep in mind it's a b18a1.

If I did this,
#1 would it be worth it?(hp wise)
#2 would it be worth while to set this head up for F/I ?
#3 Would I need a b16 ecu, or b18 ecu for the vtec?

Do a search for LS/VTEC, because that is exactly what you are trying to build.

oh, will do , thanks.
:edit:
I searched and came up with nothing, I'm probly doing it wrong. Any ways would the b16 head be worth it, if not I don't care about the vtec.

Just click the upper-right search button, enter lsvtec, and hit search. I came up w/ like 90 results, and you can also search the archived content.

I don't know about it being close to an ITR motor, but I have read a lot about ls/vtec on h-t. basically your getting the advantages of the vtec head and stock b18 bottom end. Here's my best shot to answer your questions, I'm no expert... just an H-T reader...

#1 - It puts out more HP than your B18, but I have no idea how much, never built one.

#2 - It can be set up for F/I w/ the right internals, and from what I've read it's pretty damn fast. Hopefully someone else has some more input for you on this.

#3 - I think you can keep the B18 ECU, because if you don't upgrade the internals, your redline shouldn't really change... but later on you probably want to upgrade to an aftermarket to help w/ performance.

I hope that information helps, and if i'm wrong, H-T users please be quick to correct me. Best thing you can do is search.

Search for "lsvtec" resulted in 59 recent topics and 482 topics in the archives. That should keep you busy for a while.

It will make more HP as a function of it reving to 8000... which is risky

With the right internals ANY motor can be set up for FI, LSVTEC is a very hack way of doing a "custom length" rod/crank combo vtec motor...

I do not know if the block deck height is taller (I normally measure from the center of the crank shaft to the top of the block, I believe this is normal)

Obviously the rod/stroke ratio is different...
The only reason I will ever build an LS vtec is just so I can say I have done it

Basically any motor I build is built to my specs... under those circumstances only a fool will go out in search of an LS block and vtec head to make an engine... normally ill just buy a b18C swap from Hmotors online and tear the bitch apart, rebuild it to JSpec (John Spec)

I've decided on backing down from the ls/vtec, it's to risky to add boost.

It's risky to add boost to anything.
