Default Rear Brake Drums Help

I'm replacing the brake shoes on my 98 honda civic ex and I'm struggling on how to remove the drum to get at the shoes. Do I just tap on the drum with a hammer and pry on it?

Edit Done, thanks anyway.

1st remove the small plug that cover the adjustment hole at the rear of the backing plate. Once the hole is open, use a brake spoon to move the brake shoes from the drum. the shoes must be backed away each time the brakes are applied. this wearing will cause a ridge to be formed on the outer edge of the drum or the edge toward the backing plate. as the shoes are adjusted outward, they' ll be trapped behind this ridge and will keep the drum from being removed until the shoes are backed away.2nd use a large dead blow hammer and strike between the studs while rotating the drum. DON'T strike the outside or the rear of the drum it may damage it. Be patient, rotate, strike, rotate, strike, and sooner or later the drum will break free. I hope u can use my help. GOOD LUCK

One other thing you can do is using a bolt to "work" the drum off. There are 2 threaded holes on the drum surface that are used for this purpose. The bolts that hold the dist on work perfectly for this. HTH

use the 2 8mm holes in the drum, and run to bolts into them, and it'll pop right off

just make sure you dont have the e-brake on
you can use the star wheel in the drum, (behind the drum) and loosen it untill itll come un-done... before you do this though, does the drum SPIN??? lol
