tranny bearing bad? or axel? rattling.... help
Hi i'm having a rattling problem on my car..... i'm not sure what it is. It makes a rattling clicking sound when i step on the gas when the car is in gear like at 1-2k rpm. it sounds like something is loose but all my suspension is tight. It only makes this sound when i stiep on the gas then goes away?the sound is comming from the passenger side.... any input on this?
it makes no noise in neutral.... only when in gear when i step on the gas then goes away, then when i switch gears its there agian at the low rpm
this is my opinion(but i dont know for sure so get more opinions) i think it sounds like an axel.... but please get more advice, dont just take mine

hmmm if it was making the noise when the clutch was out then it stopped when the clutch was in i would say it is a pilot or thorw out bearing... but bewing that it makes it while driving .. im assuming you need a tranny rebuild..
if it is your axle then you need to jack the car up and check your axle for play, and it could be your wheel bearing too, and to check for it place your hand horizontal on tire and move it in and out to see if your wheel got any play or not.
my del sol has done this in the past, now my hatch is. I share the concern, so this weekend I plan on lifting the car and reving low rpms and find where it's coming from, then go from there, I would bet on the wheel bearings???

i did that same test on my car, i put it on jackstands and stuck it in gear to see what was making the sounds. There was only sound when the car is on load so i'm pretty much thinking it's the input shaft bearing..... let us know how it goes for you
