How do you gap your spark plugs?
Ive search but it was never quite answered.
Say you wanna gap it to .032.
Do you do it to the point where it would be 'hard' (you would have to use a little force)to stick in something
.032 in b/w the plug
or
do you gap it to the point where you can still fairly easily stick something
.032 in b/w the plug??

I strongly recommend you do NOT bang the spark plug against the ground, you have a good chance of cracking the plug doing it that way, and your car will run like ****. Just take the gapper and push down on the plug with the thick end of teh gapper really hard and it will work.

I press the "metal piece" down on my radiator support. It's ghetto but it works.

How does one gap his plugs at .032" (which everyone recommends) when no one sells a .032" spark plug gapper? All the local stores sell gappers at .030 or .035".
I use this little T looking thing, it actually came on my feeler gauge. It kinda slips over the ground strap of the plug (i think thats what its called) and you can bend it up and down using that. I'll get a pic when I go home.
bring this back from tha dead. so yeah i've been tryin to make my gap smaller with tha coin gapper, but it aint goin no where. any other way besides bangin it on tha floor, or buyin sum fancy pliers? lemme know please............

Get a pair of Robogrip pliers from Sears and close the gap almost all the way.
Then I use this gapper to re-open the gap which also happens to work the best with Iridiums.

Unless your running an aftermarket ignition system there is no reason to gap your plugs to anything else than stock....at least this is what i am told from many local shops....I use the ngk pregapped temp 7 plugs, and leave the gap where it is because its stock gap.... Never had any problems...but its just my .02 which doesnt mean ****

To close the gap, you need some muscle to push the gap down with that coil tool. Or you can use a smooth surface and push the plug in that way... but if you push too hard... you will close the gap
