I'm getting ready to put a 98 JDM type R into my 94 dx and I was trying to get the wire harness on and I ran into some problem. I read all over HT and everyone said to use an obd2 harness because the injector plugs, the alternator plug and the distributor plug would plug right in, so I got one from a 97 ls on ebay. The injector plugs and the alternator plug didn't fit. The injector plugs I can figure it out because the wires match up but I have problem with the alternator plug because the JDM alternator has 4 wires and the LS harness only has 3 wires and the colors don't match. But the biggest problem is that there's no plug on the harness for the Vehicle Speed Sensor(VSS) or the Throttle Possition Sensor(TPS). I looked all over the harness to see if it was cut off and it doesn't look like it was. I planed this whole week around this swap project and I cant delay it. I don't have time to get another harness for a reasonable price around here. I need to make this harness work. Should I just cut off the VSS and TPS plugs off the jdm harness and run the wires straight to the shock tower plugs.
PLEASE HELP ME OUT.
thanks in advance.

I havent visited in a while, but I am sure Tom has all the info you need and it should be in the archive. or you can ask him directly if he still is on here (B18C5_EH2), but like I said I havent been here for a while.

who the hell told you to use an OBD2 harness on an OBD1 car?! what you have to do is get a harness from a '92-95 EX and plug everyhting in. the alternator plug should be the same, if it isnt, just change the plug. you might have to extend 1 or 2 plugs, and remember to solder and shrink wrap, NEVER CUT AND SPLICE. you cant use an OBD2 harness in an OBD1 car and vice versa. ****...you cant even use a '96-98 civic harnes in a 99-00 civic. or the other way around. the plug that plugs into your dash (green) wont work if you have a different generation harness. let me know if you need anymore help.

if i stayed with obd1 harness, i would had to rewire the distributor plug since obd1 has 2 plugs and obd2 has 1.

well, i finally figured out all the wiring no thanks to HT this time, i had to search some where else. But i got it started on the first try without throwing a code. i didn't drive it on the street yet because i still have to make the exhaust. that will get done tomorrow and then i'll find out if the vtec works. it took about 4 hours to make the harness between cross referencing obd1 and obd2 haynes manuals, pulling the pins and sodering the wires, but everything works out at the end.

well, got it running saturday night and finished everything off sunday, it started up first try with no ecu code. took it around the block to see if vtec works and its working fine. the tires brake loose in 1st and 2nd gear when vtec kicks in. i was taking a frend out last night for a ride and we happens to run into a 98'ish poopstang cobra, i didnt even want to race, he was behind me and i saw him get on it, i waited until he got next to me and i droped into 3rd, i wasnt in vtec so he was pulling on me and also he had a head start, my front bumper was right behind his rear bumper when vtec kicks in, i started pulling on him then i hit 4th, when i red line 4th, i looked back and he was about a cars lenght behind me, i looked at the speedo and i'm over 100mph, so i hit the brakes and he keep going. he never slow down so i could kick his *** again.
