Default Cam shafts

Ok just got the car in my sig. I want to build the valve train, I hear that ITR cam shafts are good, but not as good as like skunk 2 stage2. I don't have alot of money, has anybody ever herd anything about "web cams"? What are some affordabel options?

if you dont have a lot of money, go for the type r cams. You can find them in the classified section used for about 300 and up.

You get what you pay for, web cams and zex cams are junk, dont believe me ? - search it unde team integra i think, the zex cams actually lost power over stock gsr from 4300+ rpm.

ITR cams are not agressive as skunk stage 2, and not even as agressive as stage 1 - w/ stage 2 you need to tune and get bigger injectors. You need to search more.

Yup, listen to what Chemicalviper said. Search more as well.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend and what are the power goals of your car.

consider your long range goals

if turbo is in your future-------->itr/ctr
if you're makin an all motor beaster-------->skunk2 stage2

if you go stage2, you're gonna wanna replace valve springs and retainers too. the whole thing's gonna cost you well over a G (that's not including installation if you don't do it yourself)
stage2 cams on a forced induction setup ain't kosher

just get some ctrs and call it a day

You really need to consider the fact that on an otherwise stock engine, certain cams will not perform as they are designed to. The largest cams I would run on a stock B16 are the CTR cams, anything beyond that will hurt certain aspects of performance. Compression has a lot to do with your cam decision. Also, you should consider whether you want more power up top, or in the middle. Cams are probably the most complex of engine components. Don't buy any without understanding exactly what you need to look for to accomplish your goals.

Isn't the jun 2 intake cam alone like $500.
If you get something aggresive as skunk stage 2's your gonna valvetrain also which is gonna cost some $$$. I believe it is safe for itr/ctr cams with stock valvetrain, as some people run it.
It comes down to how much power you want to make and how much your willing to spend.

jun2 intake and ctr/itr exhaust cam combo is a great power maker under 8200 and while not requiring huge compression ratios. If you do the math you will end up spending about 750 on that setup, and about 750-800 on a set of skunk2 stage 2s.

Yea AEM cam gears are great, the cams are a little complicated to install, but the gears are now that hard, just do some searches and u could probably do it.
- You have to be careful tho

I hear skunk2 are nice, toda, srr version 2 (150 shipped from perpetualconcepts.com) basically any four bolt cam gear is a good choice! i also know that tweakmeister ( or tweakmiester) sells nice cam gears on his site.

I've used aem cam gears before (about a year) and they were fine with me. The only thing is if you have the old ones with the allen screws you should get the newer bolts they use, hex. I think i got it for 1 dollar for each, so 6 bucks altogether.

'01 ITR or CTR cams will be a good addition to your engine. Like a few people have said, more aggressive cams call for more compression (usually achieved through pistons and other things), and a valvetrain upgrade, which will both run you more $$$. If you have the patience to wait around for the good deals though, they'll come. Either way, research is your friend.

the install is not hard at all. i did it in 3 hours (normal time) having never opened up my head before. http://www.c-speedracing.com owns you all.

unless you plan on upgrading the valvetrain as well, just stick with ITR.

also, it's not really worth it to buy cam gears for ITR cams. it's not that much of a difference, because with the cam gears requires tuning, which is more money.

and AEM gears only have 3 bolts. people don't trust that as much.
