aem cam gears??
are these any good? i have a intake and have ordered airmass cat- back system for my 88 dx. will the cam gear help? and any suggestions on what to try first for a setting? thanks.
AEM Cam gears are known to slip in some cases. Go with Skunk2 Cam Gears instead. Very reputable and works very well.
But why get Cam gears when all you have is an Intake and a Cat Back Exhaust? Get a free flowing header next instead of the Cam gears...

having ran skunk2s I can make a suggestion. do you exhaust first and get that ready. I had them on stock everything and saw some gains and was able to learn some. once I got an ITR axle back, I saw my settings changed completely from less overlap to more where I saw gains. since the exhaust speed velocities change when you change the exhaust system, the cam settings will be diff too. I say, make your gains with exhaust first. There is a method to the madness. The header will help lower oil and coolant temps and the full system will make the car more efficient overall. The skunk2s would not be my choice of gears if I had to buy them again. I would find a gear with true crank degrees of adjustment on the belt side of the gear in +10/-10 settings. This is safer in theory due to not having to tune in half "degrees" with the skunks. Also, be weary of the skunk gear when they are hot... dont adjust them the threads become like butter...
