Help- No Heat!!
I have an 94' EX V-tec, the only problem is The climate control blows no heat. So far I have replaced the Thermostat. What I have noticed is that there are two lines going into the firewall, one is hot, the other which has the valve on it is cold before and after the valve. The valve appears to be working, at least the cable connected to the temp dial moves it back and forth. Not sure what to do or check next. Is there another valve or switch behind the dash? Possible bad heater core? Not sure what to next !!
There are a few tricks to manually change the HVAC settings to get heat, but if the hot water is not reaching the valve and entering the heater core, then you will simply not get any heat..
If you can get the water valve to move then chances are it is working properly.. it seems the hot water is not reaching the valve for some reason, check the hose leading to the valve and check the T-stat in a pot of boiling water if you have too.. I've seen my share of faulty brand new T-stats...

Ok, I can agree with the answer schlit,
I just normally see clogged heater cores, but it could very well be region specific..
Another nifty trick I've aquired thru the years is to reverse the heater core water flow tubes so that the hot water flows the opposite direction thru the heater core.. lime deposits clog the initial part of the elements and the obstruction can sometimes be loosed by redirecting the water flow..

Thanx for all the reply's! It seems like the t-stat is OK, both radiator hoses are hot as well as the radiator. I am going to take off the return valve and check it out to see if it is opening.
I have never done a heater core on a Honda, how hard is it to get at and change? I am kind of leaning toward a stuck heater core myself.
By the way I live near Atlanta, GA.
Thanx again!

Ok, if both water hoses are hot from the water (not from motor heat) then you might wanna poke your head underneath the passenger side dash..
What you are looking for is the linkage/controls for the hot air door.. These are located below the center console on the passenger side, you will have to remove a small cover held on by 2 clips to actually see the linkage, just yank the cover off,and observer the motion of the cables while moving the temperature control dial from hot to cold.. you will want to see if the cables and actautors are moving freely and in the right positions to achieve heat..

I took out the valve on the outbound line, which sits right behind the engine. When I did, all this goo, kind of like a clear slimy substance, came out in clumps. I let it ooze out for a while until I got antifreeze to start running out. I then closed everything up and then there was heat!
I am kind of curious, how this stuff made into my cooling system, and if I should go ahead and flush the entire system? Anyway I now have heat, It's a good thing, it was 39 degrees this AM!
By the way, live West of ATL, near Douglasville.
Thanx all!
