Default Engine Question

I you drive stick and you are constantly getting the RPMs in to the 4000-6000 range, can you do serious dammage to a 4cyl VTEC engine?

Not the engine. These engines are bulletproof. Your clutch wont be too happy, but a honda engine, especially, one with VTEC, thrives at those rpms.

nice! that's what I thought. someone told me that my engine can't take the abuse, but I told them it's meant to rev high.

same with the stock engine from a '94 accord lx?

i'm a little too used to motorcycles and hitting 8-10,000 RPMs......don't want to blow up the engine in the car. i wouldn't rev that high anyways.....only to like 4 or 5

Yeah, all honda engines are built to withstand some serious abuse at high rpm's. Just dont go bouncing off the redline, this will cause you to burn your oil very fast.

You should see the abuse my engine takes, i rev to redline and beyond many times a day, i change my oil more frequently and get my valves adjusted more often that usual too. My car runs like new with 101k.

why do you rev into redline, it does no good, certainly in a accord, your power starts to drop at about 6k.. You start loosing HP after that point..

from about 4k to 5900 or just before 6 if you run in any gear higher than that you
get powerloss.

When i mean beyond, im only talking about to 6400 or so at most. Car pulls the best shifting around 6300-6400, i dont have slips to back up that claim, but that is my experience, where do u shift Misa?
