i heard about a test u can do to check if the IAC is messes up. my car idle surger from 1000-1500, what are the tests, i heard of one where u plug a hole in the TB and if the car doesnt stall then u have a vacuum leak, but what if the cars stalls, or worse the car dies. what does that mean.
the reason i ask is because when i plugged it the car died.

I had this problem w/ my JDM H22. It would jump idle from 1000 to 1500 constantly. I decided to pull the connection on the IACV - the result was the CEL light came on but the surging stopped. I plugged it back in and the surging started up once again. I checked the connections and probed the wires for the correct voltage and everything checked out on the IACV. My problem was the idle set screw on the throttle body needed to be adjusted. It was open way too much.
