Did the IACV test...
Plugged the hole, the car dropped to about a 250rpm idle(really low) but never died. My car has the fluctuating idle that we all heat about....only it isn't that bad. It only fluctuates about 300rpm and when I get it warm and come to a stop, it will eventually stop fluctuating and drop to a 500rpm idle point. So, since I plugged it and it didn't die, doesn't that mean its bad? I also tested the FIV or whatever the freak it is called, plugged it and nothing happened, so I am assuming its fine? So, new IACV right?
Check out the PCV valve if you want. I suppose it could cause a surging idle...
For base idle...
Warm up the engine real good, turn off ALL electrical loads. Unplug the wires from the IAC valve, don't plug it. Hold the rpm up for several seconds, slowly release the gas. It should idle at 480rpm, adjust it with the screw on the throttle body. Plug the IACV back in, the idle should go up to around 750~800.
