Default Tanabe is crap!

I dont really know how long the Tanabe G-Power muffler had been on my car...because it came on the car when I bought it...but the baffling has been broken inside for months and the rattling was driving me insane!
I thought that was the bad part...but there was more disapointment!

The Tanabe piping is 2.36" ID...which is a nice size. But...upon cutting the piping off the muffler to use with my new ES muffler...I look inside..and the piping inside the actual muffler is maybe 2"!!! Probably closer to 1.75"...what the hell is up with that?!

You said the ID is 2.36" and found out it is really 1.75"?
Was the 2.36" some advertised thickness? Maybe it is the outside diameter? But then, that means the piping material is around 0.3" thick?
WTF

No..the piping itself is 2.36" ID (2.5" OD)...but inside the muffler itself..its liek 1.75" - 2.0"

OIC, the muffler itself. That would suck. It sort of defeats the purpose of the 2.36" piping.

HX guy call up the place you got it from, and tell them you were misled by the salesperson. Tell them how dissapointed you are and ask for compensation. See what they tell you. Ask to speak to a manager, and tell him he put your project behind schedule. Argue with them. I guarantee you'll get something out of it. Besides theres nothing you can do about it but buy new piping, or a whole catback. Besides you were actually mislead by the manufacturer. My friend did this when he bought SVT wheels for his mustang. They were actually replica wheels not actual ford racing SVT rims. He complained so much to the manager of the store where he bought them, that they took the wheels back, got him real SVT wheels, and didn't even charge him for the difference. Complaining is a consumers best weapon when it comes to bargaining.

I had a G Power on my Prelude for a few years. I had looked inside and noticed that it was just as large as the piping. I never had any problems with it. In fact, I think it is probably one of the best exhausts on the market. I would not expect any less from Mackin Industries (Tanabe Manufacure) who also makes Volk.
