Default ES muffler

I just had mine installed an hour ago.. it's with a universal cat with 2.25 piping.. it's so loud, I cant believe this.. I want it off... sigh... I almost went deaf by sitting in it for about 20 minutes...

I guess so.. but someone tell me this..

I wanted 2.5 piping on my car, but all the muffler shop I asked, said it won't fit...

now, with 2.25 (they say it's the biggest I can go), can I still get a resonator without changing the piping size?

Yes. they have resonators in different sizes. you do not have to change your piping size.

Dam that sucks man. I guess it has to be cause you dont have a resonator. Im getting my ES this week. I will be keeping the resonator though so i hope its not that loud. Let me know how it goes.

sure thing guys, I will be doing this tomorrow.. with all the custom piping, it could have been cheaper to buy a catback system...

Please don't get pissy at me, but how come there are like 10 different ES Oval topics at once going on?

Every topic I've seen has praised the quietness of the ES and all - what's the deal?

Again, don't get mad at me because I reallize that your topic is specific for your car and not just a generic question about the ES like the others are, but I've just noticed many posts about this same topic, that's all.

I'd try a big-*** resonator too if you can.

What motor do you have and in what car again?

I am not hating you.. this topic is about my ES muffler, so I am not gonna intrude the others... I am sorry about you find this redundant...

anyways, the reason I got ES muffler is becoz I see all these "praising" post about it.. that's why I went and bought it.. maybe it's just a different preference, I prefer my car to be quieter than this.. or maybe others are running resonator as well? I dont know..

as my signature said, I have a B18b in a EG... no mods... 2.25 piping with 2.25 cat..

Don't worry.. I am not one of those "flammable" guys.. hehe
peace

Cool man. I wasn't trying to ruin your thread.

I just saw B18 so I wasn't sure if it was a VTEC or not. So the B18B is loud with the acclaimed ES Oval? That's why I found it wierd that with so many topics devoted to the "stealth, quiet, etc." ES Oval that yours is loud.

Might want to find some of those topics and link this thread so the other ES guys can see it and maybe recommend a possibly better resonator.

I couldn't tell you because I have the ultra-non-stealth Tanabe Super Racing Medallion.

well i have seen topics in this very forum that the oval es is quite loud WITHOUT a resonator. Now, if you have been driving around with the stock exhaust, anything will take some getting used to. I drove a 5.0 with stock exhaust and that sounded pretty loud compared to my stock GSR exhaust.

Id give it a few days of driving and see if you think its loud after that. If not, resonator should remedy your problems.

Keep us updated.

one thing that I know.. I will definitely not get used to the noise.. and I didn't have a stock exhaust on b4.. nor this is my first exhaust mod...

maybe I am just a whippy person..

there's 1 thing i have to ask, is the piping custom?, yes, well then definitly get a resinator or glasspack thing, my friend has a b18b with dc header, testpipe, and 2.25 piping back to a es oval and boy was it loud, but the gains were there and thats what he wanted more power. but eventually he added a resinator and it sounds great. nice deep tone even when you whale on the throttle.

Mine is pretty loud. I have custom 2.25 piping with no cat. But I like the way it sounds.

Any freeflow exhaust system you put on your car is going to be very loud w/out a resonator. And the muffler shops you called were incorrect, you could have gone to a 2.5 inch set up. I know a lot of people running 2.5inch on their EF's and EG's.

Damn a 38" resonator thats like the whole exhaust being a resonator. LOL

Anybody know where i can get an ES asap. I've already checked the basic sites like JHP and a few others but no one has it. If anybody has any info IM me. Thanx.

a 22-24" magnaflow resonator should do the job...straight through design...no fins,no louvers...
