Tanabe is crap!
I dont really know how long the Tanabe G-Power muffler had been on my car...because it came on the car when I bought it...but the baffling has been broken inside for months and the rattling was driving me insane!
I thought that was the bad part...but there was more disapointment!
The Tanabe piping is 2.36" ID...which is a nice size. But...upon cutting the piping off the muffler to use with my new ES muffler...I look inside..and the piping inside the actual muffler is maybe 2"!!! Probably closer to 1.75"...what the hell is up with that?!

I have the same exhasut........ Where is that rattling coming from?? itz so annoying.... i have had two exhaust... 5ziigen and tanabe they both rattle when i cruise at a low RPM.. does anyone know what itz hitting and recommend an exhaust that doesnt do that?? thanx... I feel ya HX MAN
Well on my muffler...the baffling inside the muffler was broken..and thats what was rattling...theres no way to fix it...just replace the muffler.
I would recommend piecing together a system...that is what I would do.
I would buy a mandrel bend B Pipe..or get piping sections and weld it together...and get a muffler...I recommend the ES Tuning muffler.
Ive seen mandrel B Pipes for $250 (which seems kind of alot...probably can be found for less) and then the muffler is $90.

Well mine did sound good too...I not saying it didnt. Im also not sure how old it is...for all I know it could be as old as the car...which is 4 years old.
The complaint is the fact that the muffler is not 2.36" all the way through...that blows!

I love my magnaflow
Every Tanabe system I have ever seen fits crappy and sticks out, it also doesnt sound all that good, I am with HX Guy, piece together your own system, it just performs better, the way you want it to.

I have the tanabe DTM, no problems, but I really am getting to where I don't like the DTM tips
I am thinking about going to a muffler shop and getting some generic tips welded on, nothing ricy of course (can't get much more ricy than the DTM though
).

Dude...WTF is road salt?!? it's 100 degrees in October! what the HELL do we need roadsalt for?!
(salting down our tequila is about the only thing I can think of
)
My GSR had 23K on it when I bought it, and the Greddy b-pipe was already rotted out, the resonator was crumbling inside and sounding like ***, so I replaced the resonator, then I replaced the muffler with a Type R muffler...sounds stock, looks stock, no more *** sound, and no more m4Dd R1c3boI sKIlZZ y0 trying to ****** race me all the time

The same exact thing happened in my sister's car, except she has the old Trust Sp since 94. Then about a year ago the rattling started and was getting so annoying that she stop driving the civic altogether. She also noticed there were these funny looking burnt cubes all over the garage every morning. When I finally looked into it, I noticed the baffle came loose and was rolling around the inside of the muffler. I guess that explains why all the composite packing cubes came out. I took the dam muffler off and used a coat hanger to fish the baffle out. Then I turn it upside down and shake it till all the remaining packing fell to the floor. Reinstall and the rattle is gone. Amazingly the tone sounds about the same with exception of an added subtle tin like sound.
Heres a pic of the baffle I took out.
