which OEM header... eg 4door + B18c1 + STOCK cat/exhaust
ok I'm swaping in my gsr soon.
I have a 92 civic 4 door
I'm keeping the stock cat and OEM full exhaust (sleeper)
I also am going turbo reallly,...... reallly soon so I don't want to buy and expensive header.
I talked with a few guys and they said that for perfect fit I should get a cheap OEM ITR header. They said that my GSR header is about 3 inches too short of reaching the OEM cat/exhaust system.
So..... my question is
which header will work prefect as in direct bolt on?
*is ITR header and LS header the same lenght of the piping after the merge
what to do?

everytime you do a swap nothing will be direct bolt on due to changes made. some have said that the ls or type-r header bolt right on with stock exhaust but what people dont say is that you still have to modify your cat to fit right. i would go with typer 4-1 with your setup its stock and easy to sell once you do turbo. and great if your for the sleeper look.

thanks for the input.
so what your saying is that LS and ITR are the same lenght?......
how do i have to mod my OEM civic LX cat?
we did a GSR swap into a EK coupe and use the stock cat and the GSR header bolted right up, perfectly....

charlie,
main question is what exhaust do you plan on using once you go turbo?
I would guess you are going to want something a little more free flowing?
anyway, I don't know if I ever told you my whole exhaust ordeal or not but what I ended up doing was taking my car down to this little independant custom exhaust place in Shakopee (by valley fair) and having them cut the flanges off the cat and weld a straight pipe in between.... then it is garaunteed that it will fit right and it will only set you back $50 plus you will get rid of any restriction from the cat.... which will be a good thing once you go turbo
if you want to do this I would be more than happy to meet up with you and go down there sometime to get this done.... it only took the guy about 20 minutes to do mine..... let me know
later
PS.... I thought the GSR head had a different bolt pattern than the LS and type R? are you sure that either of those headers would even fit?
peace

thanks sean.
the gsr head has a different INTAKE manifold bolt patters but has the same EXHAUST manifold bolt pattern.
I'm going to think about it and then if I do decide to do it I'll certianly give you a call and we could meet up. thanks

USDM GSR header will not bolt... JDM GSR header will bolt with a larger diameter collector i believe.. thats what im stuck with.... i had to get chrysler/jeep dounut gasket for it to bolt on my stock civic cat...
LS and ITR header will still reach but the bolt pattern is angled different frm the GSR/civic. most peep jus reweld using the stock usdm gsr header.
