ok, so I ordered the buddy club spec 2 exhaust, of course it only comes for a type R, I have a 97 GSR JDM block, with JDM ITR pistons, ITR head, blahblahblah,

Anyway the real question comes when talking about lining it all up. Im running a RAGE hy-tech copy header. When the header was installed, I had to make about a 4in piece to connect the header to the cat. I know the Type R exhaust is a tad longer, but how much longer is it? im hoping with the Hytech header i should be able to retain the stck GSR cat, but have the exhaust bolt up like factory still...

You have a stock GSR cat w/ a 2.5" collector on the header? Generally the "race" headers are longer then stock and you have to move the cat further back...not add in a 4" section.

i think i got jumbled up, it dosnt have a cat, i had to make a piece to connect the header to the exhaust, but i would like to keep the cat.

So you mean the header is directly connected to the cat-back exhaust w/ a piece of 4" long pipe? Generally people run aftermarket race cats (sometimes shorter then stock) and do not keep the stock cat because it is restrictive, especially when considering the 2" opening on a 2.5" header/exhaust.
