Default B16A rods in a B18B1 block? Will this work and why or why not?!

So there is a guy trying to sell me a set of B16A2 rods and I have a B18B block with a .025 over bore. Can I make this work or will it screw me over in teh long run. I am already looking for pistons but I want to be completely sure before I purchase the rods. Thanks folks!!

if you decide not to go with the B16, I have two sets of rods and pistons with low kms and I am in Toronto.

the b16 rods WONT work. Remember that b16 blocks are 7mm shorter than b18's

will not work. unless you get a custom long b16 rod

yes just as stated above, it won't work due to the different block height and rod length. the B18B/B20 rod is 137mm and the B16A rod is 134mm. so right there that's 3mm difference not taking into account the deck height diff. which is roughly 9mm.

Besides the length, anything else different? Would it be possible to use these rods in a b18 block to get displacement?

i suppose you could use the shorter rod to gain displacement, but that is not something i have ever tried (using B16 rods in a B18). but the crank/bore size dictate most of the displacement. also when shortening the rod length you lower the piston from the head, therefore lowering the C/R. with such a large area between the piston top and the cylinder head i'm not sure how well the mixture would compress and ignite, which could lead to less power and torque.
but once again i'm not exactly sure about this since it's not something i have tried personally. i have only thought about it a couple times.

heh nope.
You can't make (more) displacement with rods. Only a wider piston or higher liter crank will create more displacement, the rods only bridge the connection between the respective crank & the piston(s) being used.

Trust us, you don't wanna use B16 rods in your LS block, if you do, your piston won't even reach the top of the deck at TDC!

B16 rods are meant for a B16 block + B16 crank.
