running open downpipe? mandrel or regular 3 inch? will it matter?

running open downpipe? mandrel or regular 3 inch? will it matter?
Can i get a regular 3 inch downpipe welded on my flange without worrying about losing performance from not having mandrel bends?
Its just gonna come right outta the downpipe. maybe later i'll get an ecutout and go with mandrel 3 inch, But for now, how will it work not having a mandrel dp?
