Default Alright fellas, I need a straight across the board answer....

Alright, I just found out yesterday that the motor in my GSR is FUBAR, so I'm not going to waste the money and downtime on rebuilding it. I really don't have that much money right now so I'm just going with a first gen B16 since they are cheap and have potential for down the road when funds are available. My question is... since most of the first gen B16's are obd0, what do I need to make this work properly in my obd1 GSR? If I swap the injectors, clips and harnesses, and the distributor, alternator, etc, will I be all set? I'll also be running an obd1 chipped p28 ecu so no need for the GSR ecu. I talked to Steve at hmotorsonline, he said I'll be fine if I just run the components off my GSR motor on the B16, but I want to make absolutely sure that it's the truth. Thanks a lot guys, I need to know real soon.

sorry to hear the bad news, but honestly, you will be very disappointed with a b16...no torque in a 2500lb car sucks, i hate my b17...

i would suggest an ls ($500 or so...) then boost that, or build it, or save up for lsvtec, but trust me, b16, you will not be happy if its a daily driver...or fully built

yeah i'd have to agree with redstar on this....no torque enough for the integra in those motors. you can pick up an LS longblock in great shape for very little dough. match it to the GSR tranny that you already have and have fun

then boost it later when you get some more green

i had a b16 in my integra before it blew
and yes theey are slow and have no torque
but
never the less they stll are fasters than ls motors
dayly driving will not be as good as a ls but racing it will still be faster than a ls
i will still always choose a b16 in a teg rather than a ls

sorry to hear that man, you must have just found out because you didn't mention it to me when we met up a few weeks ago.

i'd honestly say go with the ls longblock and turbo it down the road. i think you'll be a lot happier with that route.

I've been looking at LS longblocks but they've all been over $650. Now figure in the shipping costs, and I'm looking at close to $900. I really don't have that much $$$ to spend, and I plan on turbo'ing the B16 this summer. For now, all I need is a reliable car that runs. Plain and simple.

I dont know what kind of money you are trying to spend but after many weeks of looking, I just picked up a B16A1 for the my 91, that blew a rod threw the botton of the engine. Paid $1200 for the entire swap, all components and hardware, and $300 more for shipping. Let me know if that sounds like something you may want to do, and I will forward you this guys name.

its hella easy to put in a b16 in a integra dc2. Take the Complete wire harness off the bad motor. Includeing the injectors, Fuel rail Distributor, alt, and Throtttle body. The only plug you have to lenghten is the O2 sensor. My b16a1 i put in my odb2 integra was out of a 91 XSi and it had obd1 harnesses. So if you get one of those, you are set.

The fule rail mounting holes needed to be enlarged slightly. The reason to use your exhising TB is the JDM TB's pull from the wrong side. If you use your USDM it will bolt on. No re routeing the cable. Message me if you need help. I have a b16 in a DC2 and it sucks. But its only 500 dollars and no down time. While i build my new motor. And you can always sell the b16 or use the head later on. so its almost zero loss.

Where do you live that you cant find a b18b longblock local?

I would find an ls lonblock $500-$600, mate it to the gsr tranny, nice setup for boost

Dont rush into things youll be happier with a turbo ls/gsr tranny than a b16 turbo setup.
